Illustration Process

I created the artwork for our splash screen, that perhaps might be used on some of the others (it would be nice to animate it so that it slowly moves horizontally in the background at screen transitions) I kept with the night time color scheme so that the image will not overpower or distract from the content of our app.

Here is the final product of the illustration

App Swap with Peers

Sitemap & Wireframe

These were essentially out sitemap / wireframes by week 4. A few little parts we need to work on the flow i.e. some pages lead back to previous pages. A lot of these issues though are solved with a back button or the menu.

Emergency/Personal safety mobile apps research

I did a bit research on emergency and personal safety mobile apps, to see what other people have done.

The common features I have noticed from these:
- panic button
- GPS tracker / map correlated location
- contacts in case of emergency

What I think our app could have / focus on to stand out:
- letting members add on notices, warnings, comments, etc on the route (i.e. this path is dim-lit, this area has a lot of drunkards/perverts/...)
- panic trigger without having to go into the app (i.e by pressing home button 3 times)

Interface-wise, most of these are in flat design UI, which I think is neat, but I wonder if this style will look too calming in emergencies where you have to be alert?

I am thinking semi-flat might be more suitable for the app. I will start on making mock ups tonight
